Hail to the Savior
Leonard Layne
Hail to thee, once smitten Savior,
Who upon th’ accursed cross
Bore the sins of Adam’s children
Saving us from dreadful loss.
He who graced th ‘eternal mansions
Ere the world his word to form
Stooped, and took himself a body
In a manger lowly born.
On the cross our blessed Jesus
Shed his precious, holy blood.
All who wash in that blest fountain
Shall be fit to face our God.
Risen, now ascended, glorious
May our hearts toward heaven rise.
Sovereign Lord and priestly Saviour
May the Assembly’s praise arise.
King eternal, soon returning
All Thy people to receive.
Awful judgement will be showered
On all those who would not praise.
