Modern Moms

Leonard Layne

Modern mom, Where are you going?

"Off to work! Where else my dear?

Endless diapers, potty training

Stunts my work and my career."

Modern mom, What are you doing?

Why do you your children leave?

Day care, pre-school, kindergarten,

Why do you your children leave?

Modern mom, What are you driving?

BMW and Lincoln too!

"After all I need my freedom.

Chevrolet just will not do…"

Modern mom, What are we eating?

TV dinners, popcorn, goo.

"I detest the old , old maxim

That I should cook a pot of stew!"

Modern mom, When shall we see you?

Weekends, nights, vacations too.

"After all, you have your homework.

When that’s done, the TV too!"

Modern mom, Are you too tired?

Read and pray and tuck me in?

Daddy may, or baby sitter.

Really, is not this a sin?

Modern mom, did you miss it?

Little Johnny’s first hello,

Spoken to the baby sitter

You weren’t there to see him grow.

Modern mom, the nation withers

Crime and murder, vileness too1

Teachers, doctors, politicians,

Jailers see this. Why don’t you?

But you say, "We need the money."

Modern mom, of course, some do.

But do all ? I wonder often.

"Is this the only way for you?"

Modern mom, your children growing,

Have you really, really known?

What they feel and how they miss you,

How they struggle all alone.

God has called you, modern mother

To your children as they grow.

This your calling ever sacred.

Modern mom please prays and bow.

Precious souls, these little children.

Jesus wants them , Satan too.

Heaven, hell, Oh modern mom!

What to do, Oh what to do?

Jesus died for all the children

Now he lives to save them too.

Modern mom don’t just tell them

Children need to see you too.

Modern mom, your husbands, children

Home, the family and the church

If you do not change direction

They will all be in the lurch.

Modern mom, Please think it over.

This your only chance may be.

Save you children for the future.

This is for eternity!
